Mudjacking
Let Alpha Foundations Repair Your Concrete
Sinking concrete is more than just an eyesore; it can create a significant tripping hazard. Whether it’s the patio, walkway, driveway, or steps, it is imperative to promptly repair the problem.
Mudjacking, also commonly referred to as slabjacking or concrete lifting, is a popular method for leveling concrete slabs. It creates a stable structure to resolve the issue so you don’t trip, slip, or fall. However, it is important to note that mudjacking is not a permanent solution. It is a long-lasting repair, but you will likely require additional repairs in the future.
Our team at Alpha Foundations offers a better, less invasive solution for concrete leveling. We use the PolyRenewal™ system to provide you with a sturdy, long-lasting solution at minimal inconvenience to you.

What is Mudjacking?
Mudjacking is a relatively straightforward process. It involves pumping a mortar-based mixture of slurry beneath the slab. This material is mixed with water, soil sand, and Portland cement; it looks like mud once it’s mixed, hence the name “mudjacking.” As the mixture cures, it creates a solid, stable structure that fills in the gaps that are causing the concrete to deform.
At Alpha Foundations, we utilize PolyRenewal™, which is an expanding polymer foam. The process is minimally invasive and helps ensure that your landscaping, hardscaping, and home don’t suffer damage as the material is injected beneath the concrete. When you choose us for concrete raising services, our PolyRenewal™ system will provide you with a far more durable repair than mudjacking.

Signs You Need Concrete Lifting Services
Cracked or sunken concrete is one of the most obvious signs that mudjacking or another solution is required. You may notice cracks forming on the basement floor, find that steps start to look uneven, or notice cracks in exterior brick, stone, or siding. It’s also common to see chimneys cracking or pulling away from the home.
Other signs can include misaligned windows and doors that are difficult to open or have visible cracks. You may see tiles “pop” or hardwood floors that start to warp. And, if it’s outside or in the garage, you may see pooling water.

When Mudjacking Won’t Work
While there are many times when mudjacking will help, there are some instances when it won’t effectively solve the problem. For example, it cannot be used to lift both a slab and heavy partition walls. This is because it can be difficult to control the process, and it may result in lifting the walls unevenly.
Most importantly, it is not a “do-it-yourself” project. Mudjacking can cause serious damage to structures, and without the proper training and equipment, it’s possible to do permanent damage to your home. Believe us when we say that no number of videos on YouTube or quick reads of websites can teach you the skills required to safely and effectively perform the procedure. If you attempt to DIY, you may find yourself in a position where you complicate the repair process and multiply the number of problems. You’ll also add to the cost required to repair the damage.
